Custody Evaluations 101An exciting change has occured for Dr. Lori Love's 40-hour Custody Evaluations 101 (CE101) training series!
As of December, 2025, the 8 courses that are part of this series are now being sold and hosted on our Learning Portal site portal.sfrankelgroup.com. This change comes with exciting new bundle options for the series and a refreshed flow that is styled after modern e-learning platforms!

 Other CCE courses have also begun to be moved to our Learning Portal as well. Additionally, as of December, 2025, all new on-demand courses will be released directly onto our Learning Portal.

New Course Enrollments

I want to purchase a new course. How will that work?

New course purchases for the series will be made from their new home at our sister site. Once purchased, these courses can be accessed from the course dashboard for that site. The sister site will also hold the certificates for these courses, once they are completed.

Complete Courses

I have already completed some courses. Where will I be able to review that course material or access my certificate for my completed course?

CE courses completed on this site (the Classic site):

CE courses purchased from, or completed on, our Learning Portal site:
        Your course material and certificates will be accessible from our e-learning site portal.sfrankelgroup.com

 I have purchased a course but have not begun/completed it yet. What will happen to it?

In-progress, unexpired courses purchased on this site (our Classic site) are still available to be completed on the Classic site (sfrankelgroup.com).

About our Learning Portal Site

 What exactly is this e-learning site? How is it different?

The Steve Frankel Group has providing Continuing Education for over 20 years now. Our current website, now called our Classic Website, has begun to show its age – this is why already moved our live webinars to our new platform starting in 2024. As audiences become more used to e-learning in their and their children’s schooling, we have been working to develop an experience that is both up to modern tech standards and aligns with what customers are coming to recognize for learning.

Information: Becoming a Custody Evaluator

Interested in becoming a Custody Evaluator? Start with your approved 40-CE training.

Complete 40-hours of approved training. Our child custody 101 series fulfills this qualification for California. While it fulfills requirements in many other states/jurisdictions, if you are not located in California, we recommend checking with your local jurisdiction to verify CE carryover.

Completed your 40-hour Training and ready for your next steps?

  1.       Fill out form FL-326
  2.       Complete your supervised evaluations. Find a mentor/supervisor by:
    1.       Joining your local chapter of the AFCC, so you can find other members and groups in your area
    2.       Reaching out to the official California AFCC Mentors
  3.       Can’t find a supervisor?
    1.       Some jurisdictions will allow you to get an exception to the supervision requirement by offering to complete your initial evaluations for free/pro-bono,
  4.       After becoming an Evaluator, keep your CCE credentials up to date by ensuring you complete your annual update requirements!

Complete the 16-hour IPV Requitement

The 40 hours training series satisfies the 40-hour CE training requirement defined in Rule of court 5.225. The 16 hour CE IPV requirement is a separate requirement in addition to the 40 hours, defined in Rule of court 5.230 (and mentioned in rule of court 5.225). 

According to the California Rules of Courst, any of SFG's courses specifically on the topic of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)/Domestic Violence (DV) can be applied to this requirement.

While rules throughout the United States and Canada for the registration of a Custody Evaluation are similar, the specifics do change between jurisdictions. If you are in another state or are outside the United States, please reach out to your local AFCC chapter and read the Rules of Court of your jurisdiction to find details on completing your certification as a Custody Evaluator.
