Program Description:

Suicide remains a leading cause of preventable death worldwide, making timely assessment and effective intervention essential skills for all mental health professionals, first responders, and support personnel. This training provides participants with evidence-based immediate and long-term intervention strategies to prevent suicide. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence based intervention models such as the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Safety Planning Interventions (SPI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and CBT-SP (Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention) for assessment and treatment.

Participants will build confidence and competence needed to respond appropriately in crisis situations, reduce risk, and facilitate connection to ongoing care. Legal and ethical considerations, cultural competence, resources, and strategies for clinician self-care will also be discussed. This training prepares professionals to engage in compassionate, effective, and life-saving suicide prevention work.
