Program Description:
Several changes in federal and state laws have increased the relevance and importance of evidence-based evaluations of child abuse and domestic violence in child custody evaluations.
While these issues have always been significant areas in such evaluations, the passage of several laws have ramifications for every child custody evaluator. This course will address those changes and the subsequent alteration in processes and competencies resulting from the new laws. Child custody evaluations will require increased use of evidence-based procedures to investigate the effects of domestic violence and child abuse on custody recommendations. In this course, an overview of these adaptations by custody evaluators will be addressed.
